Exciting 2019 Santa Fe Launch

Hyundai’s launch of the 2019 model has exciting changes!

The Santa Fe SUV seven-seat 2019 model will be available only as a diesel and the five-seater will only be available as a gasoline engine, for the launch in Canada.

This launch, for both smaller and larger Santa Fes, will drop the suffixes of “Sport” and “XL”. The 2018 seven-seat Santa Fe XL will continue to be sold alongside the new 2019 models. The current 3.3-litre V6 will continue to power this vehicle.

The 2019 Santa Fe will offer three powertrain options: the base engine is a 2.4-litre four-cylinder and upgraded engine will be a 2.0-litre turbo-four will also be available. The 2.4 is estimated to punch in at 185 horsepower, while the 2.0 is estimated at 232 horsepower.

This new diesel option will be a 2.2-litre turbocharged unit, producing an estimated 200 horsepower and 320-lb of torque. This engine could easily take on the Mazda CX-5, and will be leaps ahead, power-wise, of the Chevrolet Equinox diesel. All of the 2019 model engines will be paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Photos of the new Santa Fe provide a great view of the vehicle’s revamped styling.

Hyundai has added more space inside as well as the overall footprint of the SUV. The rear quarter glass has been enlarged and the A-pillars have been thinned. The whole interior has been updated with the highlight being the split-screen infotainment system. Also new are more active safety systems.

More details will be available closer to summer for Canadian specs and pricing.
